HOLY SHIT DUDE! That looks fun and a pain in the ass at the same time. I'll be seeing ya'll tomorrow. I just got to drop by Nissan and pick up the remainder of my parts. So does that mean the SR is back in?

Yea small pain but for a big gain u kno, and the SR is not back in yet. I still need to pressure wash the engine bay and then throw a coat of paint on it so it wont rust then I can slap the SR back in.

LOL yea I know I have had the NSX washed there many times by Chris Lucero back when he was in detail, funny thing I/we call him Neillo cuz there were too many Chris' out at the time. The other issue is there is no motor so I can't go down there with the car anyway.

Well yesterday I got a late start on my car after doing some work over at my Dad's house, so all I really got to do was pressure wash the engine bay. Dam it was dirty! lol Anyways I got another late start today so all I got to do was some minor cleaning and sanding. After that Jon and I removed a bunch of stuff and then masked off the engine bay so I can paint tomorrow. I can't wait to get it done so I can slap the SR back in!

15 mins with the pressure washer.

All masked up and ready to get paint.

Monday update! Woot! I pushed the car out into the drive way about an hour ago and painted the bay, I must say it looks so much better than it did before. I was thinking of painting the same color as the car will be but I didn't have any money for paint and I had a quart of the black epoxy primer from a while back just waiting to be sprayed. Anyways next up will be the power steering cooler and then put the bay all back together.

Got some more work done, for the most part I have just been working slow and steady which is a good thing. I mounted up a power steering cooler and started to put the engine bay back together as well. The stock power steering cooler was nothing more than some 3/8 inch metal tube bent to make a "u" turn to go back into the reservior. It's fine for everyday driving but for what I am doing it isn't going to cut it, so I used a fluid cooler I got from Andrew and then went to Napa and picked up 15 feet of 3/8" metal tubing for $15. Then I just used a small tubing bender to bend the lines to where I wanted them, I also cut off the end of the stock return line to reuse since it has a special flarred fitting that fits into the steering rack. I think it came out dam good!

Stock power steering cooling return line, you can see the fitting I cut off in the upper right corner.

Here you can see where I cut off the stock fitting so I can reuse it. Old school tubing cutter still works great!

Now you can see why I decided to reuse this part, I don't have a tool to make the flare/o ring fitting that is on the end of this line.

Mounted up the cooler.

More stuff being put back on the car.

Now you can see I put the radiator back in so I could use it to see how much clearance I would need for the new tubing to pass by. This is just the ruff fitment of the lines without any clamps or extra mounting hardware.

More of the new lines.

Stock line meets the new line.

Ok well I got a few things done, mostly i have been waiting on parts to get delivered so I can finish the oil cooler setup. Once the oil cooler setup is done I can slap the motor back in. I installed my Circuit Sport rocker arm stoppers (RAS) and then clearanced the valve cover to clear the RAS, once that was done I painted my valve cover wrinkle red. I can't even begin to express how much I want to slide this dam car!!!! lol

All stock valve cover.

Cover off and you can see how clean my valve train is, thanks to JHot for a great motor set!

Ok to install the RAS you just remove the cam cap bolts, the oil squirter and then slide the RAS into place then just bolt it back together. Now for S13 SR20 motors all you have to do is bolt in the RAS and then put the valve cover back on. For S14/S15 SR20 motors you have to celarance the valve cover cuz of it's different design and oil baffle setup.

For this small baffle you can simply bend it so it fits on top of the RAS, as you can see in the pic below I decided to cut it instead either way is fine.

After cutting it.

RAS installed.

The pics below show where you have to clearance the valve cover to fit with the RAS installed. This first pic if on the rear of the cover on the exhaust side.

This is what you need to cut on the intake side front of the cover.

Now after cutting and grinding the area's that needed to be modified. As you can see I cut more than in my pics, this was because it was easy to cut it off than to make a rectangle cut.

Now to paint the cover, cleaned it all off and masked off the cover.

After 3 coats of the wrinkle paint, lol it doesn't look like it will wrinkle at all but just wait it out it will.

2 hours later just starting to wrinkle and still shiny.

5 hours later fully wrinkled and no longer shiny, this paint takes a long time to dry so leave it sit for 24 hours before trying to do anything to it.

24 hours later I used a razor blade to scrape off the first layer of wrinkle paint from the cover.

Now after a lil sanding to the letters and it's all done ready to be reinstalled.
