Ok well I started the swap yesterday... I am not done but the motor is in, now all i need to do is wire it up and wait for my new Koyo SR radiator to get here. Anyways when I am done I plan to do a full write about the S14 SR into an S13 chassis, but for now the pics will have to do.

I changed a few things while the motor was out, for general maintenance reasons. New exedy clutch kit, Nissan water pump, Nismo low temp thermostat, Nissan oil filter and a set of NGK BKR6EIX spark plugs for a 1995 MR2 3SGTE motor so the gap is preset to .032".

Also I finally got a chance to install my hicas steering rack and ES bushings, after I pulled the motor I could see why my steering had so much play. The bushing had deteriorated so much that the rack would move 1/4" in both directions. The good thing is now I know the difference between a hicas and regular rack when you look at them outside the car. I will make a small write up on this as well later.

Now time for the pics.

Inside of the water pump housing, nice and clean in there.

Thermostat housing.

Start of the swap... the stock KA24DE that has been good to me.

Here are the S13 power plugs that need to be spliced into the S14 power wires.

Here you can see the interior plug for the DOHC S13 motor its the brown plug and this will be spliced into the S14 interior harness wires.

More parts removed for the swap.

Out she comes!

Old power and new power next to each other.

Ready for the SR!

Stock Nissan clutch and pressure plate. I prolly didnt need to change this since my motor has low miles but why chance it.

New Exedy clutch kit installed.

Here you can see by the shiny part on my steering rack how much it has been moving because of the worn out bushings.

Steering rack out and waiting for the hicas rack.

Now it's time to drop the SR in.

Here you can see i removed the stock clutch fan because I have no use for it since I already have a set of Altima eletric fans.

OooOoOOooOOooo she is almost in I'm getting excited!!!!

Down on the mounts and in place!

Here are the stock SR heater hose lines. As you can see in the pic these can be cut and routed right to the stock USDM S13 heater core connections.

All done for tonight, mounts are tight. She is ready for fluids and to be wired up.

Well I have been working on the wiring for my motor, and lets just say that all the info on the net has for the most part been useless in wiring the motor correctly. But I have made some progress and if I can get a few more things I should be able to get it finished soon.

No I will still drive the car however if I ever have the cash and come up on a good deal on a trailer I would get one.

Update on the car, after a long 3 day weekend I got the car to the point where all I need is the intercooler piping. Since I bought an S13 SR20 intercooler kit and then unded up getting an S14 SR20 the piping doesnt match up at all. I tried cutting it and adding stuff, but it didn't fit. So I ordered up an S14 intercooler piping kit. I am hoping between the two sets of piping I can make one good fitting set.

As for the wiring, I am not sure if its all right at the moment but I cannot test it since the piping isnt in place. But I did plug the harness in to check to see if would at least turn over and it did, so I know that I at least got that right lol.

Well I finished the car on Saturday, and I can say at the moment it was all worth the effort. Man what a difference some power makes not to mention the car has less wieght in the front and it's noticable in the handling of the car. I am planning on making a full write up on the S14 SR20DET into an S13 later, but for now I'll just show u the pics of the last parts of the swap.

Here is the S14 wiring harness unmodified.

Here is some of the harness after I deloomed it.

USDM S13 Dohc and Sohc power plugs.

USDM S13 Dohc interior plug.

These are the stock S14 throttle cable grommets, the one on the left needs to have a slit cut into it like the one on the right to work with the DOHC S13 throttle cable.

Here is the modified grommet.

Here you can see the stock S13 throttle cable lock nuts are too small for the S14 bracket which is why the S14 grommets must be used.

Cable installed and routed.

My new Koyo S13 SR20 radiator, an SR20 rad is needed cuz of the different inlet location on the SR vs. KA

Here is the my Greddy front mount intercooler installed and also you can see the Koyo in the background.

Test fitting the bumper and support after cutting it to fit around the intercooler.

Here you can see the rerouting of the wiring harness to fit the LHD S13 setup.

I had to reposition my battery to drill a 3 inch hole for the intercooler piping to pass thru.

More of the wiring harness nearing completion.

I put the stock S14 wastegate solenoid valve in the same spot it is on the S14 chassis.

It's hard to see but this is the stock S14 boost pressure sensor, i spliced it in close to the throttle body.

Now after all the piping, wiring and accessories being installed.

New rack bushings and Hicas steering rack installed.

Steering angle spacer installed.

All done getting warmed up for the first test drive.

Ill get some video soon enough but it will need to wait till I get my downpipe gasket since Saturday night I blew it out, lol. It was well worth it cuz man what a difference the motor has made to my drift game!!!! Also I ordered a set of Kazama motor mounts to lower my motor some since the Nismo mounts I have make the motor sit a bit higher than stock, which made it so my Carbing strut would not fit.

Anyways between the weight and power difference of the SR vs. KA my car feels so much better. Now all i need to do is start playing with the front caster and get used to the quicker Hicas rack.

Ok well I got my downpipe gasket today and it still has a leak somewhere. I think it's leaking between the turbo and the O2 elbow. However I sold my RB mounts and drive shaft so I bought a Circuit Sport 1 peice downpipe and elbow which has been dyno'ed to make 28 WHP on a stock SR motor. So ill change the elbow gasket when I change the down pipe. Also I ordered a set of Kazama motor mounts so that my motor will sit lower, which should make my Carbing strut bar fit again. ANways thats it for now I'll update more later.

Well after a decent night of sliding I blew the turbo manifold gasket... dam it! Anyways so yea Im gonna have to rip the turbo out and replace that gasket, I am just gonna get all the gaskets and replace them with better multi layer steel gaskets so I dont have this problem any more. Anyways so yea fuck shit ass dam it I wanna slide lol.

Ok I pulled the turbo and manifold out of the car, man what a pain to remove everything around it to pull the manifold/turbo as one. Once I got everything pulled out i realized that the turbo was so loose I could move it side to side on the manifold. Then I pulled the nuts and removed the turbo from the manifold to find that only about 2/3rds of the metal gasket was still there... lol no wonder it was loose and had such a bad exhaust leak.

Well I got my CS downpipe/elbow, man what a pain in the ass to change all the gaskets and then tighten the bolts on the downpipe. But it was worth it, cuz what a difference in power the car has now! I see why it makes more power, the dam thing is huge and the turbo even spools a bit earlier now. I don't have any pics of the install cuz there is really nothing to see, but I do have a couple comparison pics of the stock setup vs. the CS.

WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL yea so I borrowed some Tires from Matt last night so I could slide since I don't have tire money right now... let me just say my game has stepped up and doing tandem drift runs is fun as shit!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did some tandem runs with Andrew last night, what a fucking rush! I didnt actually mean to do the tadem runs but my cars was carrying so much speed that it just happened.

Also I picked up some Circuit Sports stainless steel rocker arm stoppers from FRsport.com, I'll prolly put those on later since on the S14 SR you need to make a few relief cuts in the valve cover baffle to fit the stoppers. But these are a must for higher revving sr motors, $75 for the assurance that a rocker arm won't pop out and kill the motor is a small price to pay.
